Sportsbooks Show Early Favorites to Win Super Bowl XLIX

It’s never too early to talk about what happens in the next NFL season. With the Seattle Seahawks entering the 2015-2016 NFL season brandishing a “defending champions label”, oddsmakers have installed the Legion of Boom as the top favorites to win at Arizona next February. Not far behind are the Denver Broncos and the San Francisco 49ers, two teams the Seahawks crushed in the 2013 playoffs before lifting the Vince Lombardi hardware.

Seattle Seahawks

Fresh off a Super Bowl title, the Seattle Seahawks are labelled as the top favorites to win it again next year with a league topping price of +500. The Seahawks lost a few key personnel from their vaunted defense, particularly in its pass-rush (Chris Clemons, Red Bryant) but those losses aren’t enough to have their “Legion of Boom” title stripped off.

Denver Broncos

The measly eight-point performance in the Super Bowl XLVIII continues to haunt Jon Elway’s team but for sure, the Denver Broncos will be back into contention next season. They are priced +650 to surpass their runner-up finish last season. Although the road back to the grand stage could be more difficult this time around. They are scheduled to go up against four of the top five defenses in 2013. Then add the fact that Peyton Manning would be 38 years old by the time the new season kicks off.

San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers almost made their second straight Super Bowl but the Seahawks sent their aspirations back to Earth. With odds of +700 to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy next year in Arizona, the 49ers could be boasting a stronger roster this season, depending on what happens this offseason. They have a raft of players about to be unrestricted free agents – the most notable is Anquan Boldin, the team’s leader in receptions and receiving yards last season. The 49ers also own 11 picks in the coming 11 draft, five of which are in the first round.
