Odds on Who Will be the Next Actor to Play James Bond After the Daniel Craig Era

There have been some legends and some “nice try’s” in the James Bond roster history. It’s hard to not to love the original Sean Connery and eventual Roger Moore. George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton had some nice attempts, while Pierce Brosnan tried to revive the franchise in the mid-90’s. One of the best of the bunch (we emphasize “one of”) has been Daniel Craig.

Craig has now played the role of 007 four times and has admitted that he may be interested in moving on. He did go back on his comments, but it may be time to for the franchise to move on as well. If they decide to, here are some of the top candidates to order the next silver screen martini – shaken not stirred.

Who will be the next James Bond? The sportsbooks weigh in.

Damian Lewis -120

The redheaded Homeland star could be the next Bond on tap. The Sunday Mirror seems to think they have the scoop that he’s already been given the “unofficial nod” but no announcement has been made.

Tom Hardy +200

This is something that could just flat out work. The worry though is that Tom Hardy may now be too well known. Daniel Craig had acted for many years before he got his first Bond flick in, but he was typically a supporting role actor. Tom Hardy has starred in Batman, Inception, and now Legend – where he plays two twin characters. Hardy would be a great Bond but could be a long shot.

Idris Elba +250

The Luther star would be a fantastic choice as the next JB. Again though, the worry is that Idris may be too well known. When asked about the speculation Elba replied with, “Luther is my Bond.” Needless to say, he may turn down the role if offered it.

Michael Fassbender +600

The Promoethius and Inglorious Bastards star could potentially be the next Bond as well. The question is, could the world handle a German-born Bond? Online sportsbooks are a little undecided on Fassbender. Given his resume though, you know a character like 007 would be right in his wheelhouse.
