Who Will Win Heisman 2014 – Sportsbooks Declare the Early Favorites

Jameis Winston

The Florida State Seminoles completed one of the most spectacular seasons in college football history as they stunned the Auburn Tigers with a come-from-behind 34-31 victory in the BCS National Championship last year.

The main reason behind their victory was the stellar play of their quarterback Jameis Winston, particularly in the final drive, as he went 6-of-7 passing for 77 yards on the game winning 80 yard drive as he justified his being awarded the Heisman Trophy, and being the youngest winner of the award at that.

With Winston returning to the fold for Florida State next season, the Seminoles are favored to repeat as BCS champions once again and bookmakers have taken a liking on Winston to repeat as Heisman Trophy winner.

High profile sportsbooks like Top Bet and Bovada have installed Winston as the early favorite to win the 2014 Heisman Trophy again. For more on which sportsbooks provide the best odds and services, check out our sportsbook review section.

SPORTSBOOKS SHOW EARLY FAVORITES TO WIN 2014 HEISMAN TROPHY

Jameis Winston (Florida State)

Winston had a great season for the Seminoles last season, passing for 4,057 yards that resulted into 40 touchdowns as he guided Florida State to a perfect 14-0 record and a BCS Championship title. Entering his sophomore year, there is still room for improvement for the 20-year old and is the odds-on favorite at +300 to win the Heisman Trophy this year.

Marcus Mariota (Oregon)

The University of Oregon quarterback had a solid sophomore season with the Ducks last year as he became the only player in Oregon history to eclipse 4,000 yards in a season with a total of 4,380 yards in total offense.

He led the Ducks to their third straight Bowl victory, vanquishing Texas 30-7 in the 2013 Alamo Bowl where Mariota was awarded the game’s offensive MVP title.

That performance solidified the bookmakers’ selection in making him the second favorite at +650.

Bryce Petty (Baylor)

The Baylor Bears quarterback may have finished last season on a sour note after the Bears lost the Fiesta Bowl to Central Florida, but there is no doubting the ability of Bryce Petty to bounce back and put up a strong performance this season.

Petty put up incredible numbers last season passing for a total of 4,200 yards as they finished with an 11-1 record before that defeat to Central Florida.

Bookmakers expect Petty to improve on last season’s success and have installed him as the third favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at +900.
