Dak Prescott

The NFC was hell of a conference last season. The Dallas Cowboys had their rookies carrying the team to surprising regular season success. The Green Bay Packers leaned on St. Aaron Rodgers’ miracles, and the Atlanta Falcons put on a show in the first half of the Super Bowl before going 100 to zero in the second half against the New England Patriots. It was fun as it was exhilarating. Will the NFC be as entertaining this coming season? Meanwhile, let’s take a look at the odds of some of the top three contenders for the NFC title.

Dallas Cowboys

With Tony Romo out of the Cowboys’ faces now, Dallas will begin a fresh new chapter next season. Without a doubt, the Cowboys are now Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott’s team now and hopes are high that it’ll duplicate a fantastic 2016 regular season in which Dallas topped the NFC East with a 13-3 record.  While there are some holes to address on the team, an elite offensive line and a healthy Dez Bryant playing alongside Prescott and Elliott make the Cowboys a dangerous team in the coming season. Sportsbooks have the Cowboys priced at around +450 to win the NFC title.

Green Bay Packers

Even with mediocre receivers, so long as the Packers have Aaron Rodgers, they’ll always be a force to reckon with on the field. That said, the Packers’ front office has some work to do this offseason. Eddie Lacy and T.J. Lang were notable subtractions from the team. Between the two, Lang appears to be the bigger loss, as it weakens the Packers’ protection of Rodgers. Lacy has looked dispensable, especially with his health and weight becoming issues for the team. Defensively, the Packers, who are +900 to top the NFC, need to shore up its defensive line. The secondary is fine with Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Morgan Burnett but still needs some pieces, especially with Sam Shields also gone.

Atlanta Falcons

Ah, the Falcons. Some months after they blew a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl that inspired a flood of jokes and memes about the team’s colossal whack job in the grandest stage of football, Matt Ryan and company will be looking for a rebound. The team’s defense improved during the 2016 season, thus complementing Atlanta’s deadly Matt Ryan-led offense that ranked second last season in total yards per game. Two-time Pro Bowler Dontari Poe was signed this offseason, meaning the Falcons mean business. Vic Beasley heads the linebacking corps that will be back to play the boogeyman for opposing quarterbacks. Atlanta is +550 to win the NFC.
