After an absolute stunning Round of 16, the 2016 rendition of the Euro Cup is coming down to the wire in France. As we head toward the finals rounds, there are some that were predicted to still be in the hunt and others that at one point, weren’t even predicted to be in the tournament.

Let’s take a closer look at those finalists…

UEFA Euro 2016 Betting Odds – Quarterfinals Update

France (+275)

France is the hometown favorite and will likely advance to the semis. They are facing a red hot Iceland squad who are coming off a momentous win over England in the Round of 16. The French are a fast team with a very dynamic offense. Antoine Greizmann is currently tied for the tournament lead in goals with three, while Dimitri Payet is right behind him with two. France is also third in scoring with six goals total. They are -107 favorites on Sunday.

Germany (+275)

Yet again, the Germans are a big and strong group. The defending World Cup champions are tied for first in goal differential at +6. They are also tied for third with France, Hungary and Iceland in scoring with a total of six on the board. They are a very well balanced team and are +185 favorites over the Italians on Saturday.

Belgium (+400)

The Belgians got off to a slow start in the tournament but have since picked up speed in a hurry. They lead the tournament in total goals with eight. They also lead the Euro in shots as well totaling 84 attempts – 31 of which have been on target. They are a very dangerous and offensively talented team. They are also +145 favorites over Wales this Friday.

Italy (+650)

Italy pulled off a shocking 2-0 win over Spain in the Round of 16 and now has three clean sheets in this tournaments. They shut out Belgium in their first game 2-0 and Sweden in their second 1-0. Nobody predicted Italy would go this far, claiming their team was much weaker than in past years. So far though, they have not shown any signs of slowing down. They are currently +375 underdogs to Germany, but don’t be surprised if it comes down to a tight finish. Italy won’t go down easy.

Portugal (+700)

The Portuguese are another surprising team. Crowds keep waiting for them to fall, but they keep surprising and sticking to their game plan. They suffocate teams with strong defense and midfield play and strike when the time is right. They are not stacked from top to bottom, but you can never count out a team that has arguably the best player in the world in Cristiano Ronaldo. They are +185 favorites to take out Poland on Thursday.

Poland (+1,800)

The Poles are an interesting bunch. They are built with a nice mix of young and old and are again led by their veteran star Robert Lewandowski. Their leading scorer though is former Lewandowski teammate, turned Fiorentina star, Jakub Błaszczykowski with two goals in the tournament. Poland is currently a +380 underdog heading into Thursday’s matchup with Portugal.

Wales (+2,000)

Led by Real Madrid star Gareth Bale’s Euro-leading three goals, the Welsh have been a bit of a Cinderella story. They don’t have a top to bottom rock solid roster, but they’ve certainly been able to withstand the heat. They are a tenacious bunch, who much like the Portuguese, are prone to attack when the time is right. They are currently +425 underdogs this Friday against Belgium.

Iceland (+3,300)

This is almost everybody’s favorite story of the tournament. The Icelandic bunch represent the best in the country, which at first glance, you’d think isn’t saying much. The country’s population is roughly 330,000 and this group still had enough man power to upset the once-world powerhouse English side in the Round of 16 by a score of 2-1. They are currently +520 underdogs heading into Sunday’s contest with France. Don’t be surprised though, if the legend continues. They are riding a tidal wave of momentum and it could be just enough to top the tournament’s best team.
