As we enter the halfway mark of the 2015-16 NBA season, the Golden State Warriors continue to reign over the basketball world with an NBA-best 36-3 record. There’s barely been any sign of slowing down from them which is precisely why they’re (still) the hands-down favorites (+140) to come out atop of the wild Western Conference and a repeat as champions. But of course, it’s too early to make such a bold prediction especially with the San Antonio Spurs lurking right behind them.

Western Conference Championship – Goliath (Warriors) and Goliath (Spurs)

Yes, the Golden State Warriors’ third defeat of the season was courtesy of a young and struggling Denver Nuggets squad. But even so, their current standing is something worth boasting about. They are 36-3 overall and have beaten majority of their opponents by double-digits. Splash Brothers—Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson—are as lethal as ever with 50.5 points combined thus far this season. Apart from those two, the Warriors’ strength does not end there as they still have their workhorse in Draymond Green, who has already tallied a league-high of eight triple-double outings, to put their trust on in every game.

Speaking of strength, the San Antonio Spurs (+160), who trail the defending champions by just three games or less, have been silently scary this season. They own the second-best record in the league and as expected have begun to flouring under Greg Popovich’s system. Their defense, in particular, has really been phenomenal, allowing just 89.7 PPG thus far.  Moreover, LaMarcus Aldridge has seemingly found his comfort zone already with numbers of 20.7 PPG and 10.6 RPG in the team’s first five games of 2016.

It’s just a matter of days before these two heavyweights collide for the first time this season, which is on January 26. Once that day arrives, the entire basketball world better prepare for one hell of a matchup that’s bound to take us on a roller coaster ride.

Meanwhile, it’s worth keeping note that the Oklahoma City Thunder (+1,200) and Los Angeles Clippers (+2,000) still have more than enough time to catchup and make things even more interesting. Both squads are still legitimate title contenders this season.
